Kendall is at the office right now. Turnaround has begun.
I mentioned turnaround in my last post, it is a terrible beast that cannot be tamed for two months.
The refinery that Kendall works at has to undergo routine maintenance every year that it cannot undergo whilst running at full speed. So, the refinery slows down certain aspects of the process (i.e. there are normally two pipes that send this chemical into this pressure cooker, we must shut one down in order clean it, while the other runs). As one can imagine, this means that the plant is losing a lot of money. Probably more money that I even care to think about.
For this reason, the engineers are expected to be working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Well, not individually, but as a group. So, for the next month Kendall is set to work from around 5:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. If you don’t get where I’m going with this, here’s a visual illustration.
I think that will help illustrate what we are dealing with here.
Be thinking about and praying for us because, funny graphs aside, this time period presents a lot of potential problems for us. We’ll keep you posted on how we work around this. The good news is, if any of us can handle this situation, it certainly is Kendall. As I’m sure I don’t have to tell you, she is quite a good bit stronger physically, emotionally and mentally than the average bear.
Hopefully we’ll even get to hear her take on how turnaround is going. She pledges to one day write on this site, that may just become a running joke though.
If you didn’t get it, here’s our Save the Date. (The photos come out as a magnet). Please direct all compliments to Kendall, as she did most of the work behind designing and completing these. Also, we recommend either e-mailing Kami Clark or visiting her website for any of your wedding announcement/invitation needs.
As for the song at the top, very good music. Also, although I wouldn’t quite compare the loss that the singer is dealing with to losing Kendall for a month or two, the song is, nonetheless, poignant.
😦
More from Kendall, please.
That’s what I’m saying.
When I first read this, I thought about how Kendall was the luckiest girl alive…but then I remembered how loud your farts are and how bad your farts smell. 😦
I will cop to the first part of that accusation, but I refuse to be branded as a smelly farter. On the whole, they are rather aromatic.
Sending you prayers for your time together to increase & loving the creativity of Kendall!!
Thanks Kimberly! Hope all is going well with you!
Another great post by a great former tenant of Maxcy 303. I know how you feel. When I was fighting in the American Civil War (I know, I’m old) I had to leave my wife Martha and our two children behind. Well, I died due to disease caused by a gunshot wound that did not heal properly right outside of Maxcy. As you now know, I “haunt” 303. Being away from the wife was very hard, but you can make it through this Michael.
Thanks for the encouraging words Rupert. Hopefully both Kendall and I can avoid the fate you met during this stretch but I will nonetheless keep your advice in mind.
